Who is John - Your Guide
Amsterdam and the Netherlands are special. The city and the country fascinate me and therefore I turned my passion into work.

With a fresh look at history
My name is John Groen, born in the north of Amsterdam.

I speak Dutch, English, reasonable Spanish and also some German. The language I use will be Dutch or English, but for foreign-speaking guests I would like to do my best to clarify things in Spanish or German.

I have work experience in various museums, including a museum that tells the story about the origins of the Amsterdam canals. 

As a historian with a MA degree (Master of Arts) in history, my expertise lies in the period from 1500 till now and in contemporary history. My interest is very broad and I can also tell you a lot about all kinds of events that are outside of these times and  themes that take place in other parts of the world.

As an enthusiastic and passionate guide, I look forward to tell you about the fascinating story and history of the Netherlands. This country has many facets and I love to take you on a journey through the unique Dutch past and present. Through beautiful cities such as Amsterdam, through impressive landscapes, unique buildings and so much more. Let me surprise you!
